Advantages of Invisalign Over Traditional Braces

Clear & Almost Invisible

Invisalign is nearly invisible and can be worn without detection. If you are conscious with how you look with traditional braces, Invisalign is the answer for you.

Higher Comfort Level

Unlike traditional braces, the Invisalign aligners are made of smooth plastic that fits comfortably over your teeth, minimising any irritation to your gums or surrounding tissues. Say goodbye to wires poking at your gums!

Easily Removable

While traditional braces are permanently fitted to your teeth throughout your entire treatment, Invisalign aligners are removable.

Better Oral Hygiene

With Invisalign, you may brush and floss your teeth as per usual because the aligners are removable.

Types of Dental Issues Treatable with Invisalign

Crooked/Crowded Teeth

When you don’t have enough room in your jaw for your teeth to fit normally, your teeth can bunch up, overlap and twist, sometimes getting pushed to the front or the back.

Spaced Teeth

When you have extra space between two or more of your teeth, this is an example of spacing issues or gap teeth.

Open Bite

If your upper and lower teeth don’t touch when your mouth is closed, your doctor calls this an open bite.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the benefits of Invisalign over typical braces?
Invisalign are clear and almost invisible aligners that are used to gently align your teeth, providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance as compared to typical braces.

2. Will I need to have my teeth extracted for Invisalign?
Extractions of teeth may be necessary in cases of severe crowding or protrusion of teeth. However, not all patients require extractions.

3. How long will the Invisalign treatment take?
In general, the treatment time ranges from 1 to 3 years. The actual duration is dependent on the severity of the problem, the patient’s cooperation in attending follow-up visits on a regular basis, maintaining good oral hygiene, and following the dentist’s instructions closely.

4. What if I am still not satisfied with the results after 3 years, is there a cap to the Invisalign treatment duration?
The duration of your Invisalign treatment is capped at five years. However, Invisalign patients have typically never had to undergo treatment for more than three years.

5. Does wearing the Invisalign aligners hurt?
Generally, Invisalign will hurt less than braces. Braces get tightened once every four to six weeks, and this means that more force needs to be applied in a single session to get the teeth to move to the next desired position. In contrast, for Invisalign treatment, you will be required to change to a new set of aligners every week, so the difference in pressure will be lesser.

6. Can I use my Medisave or CHAS for the Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign is unfortunately not Medisave claimable. However, should there be a need for a simple extraction, CHAS subsidies will apply.
