No, you should never attempt to adjust your retainer yourself. If your retainer feels uncomfortable or doesn't fit properly, contact your orthodontist for an evaluation and adjustment. Trying to adjust it yourself may cause damage or result in an improper fit.
How many visits are required to get a retainer?
The treatment requires two visits. During the first visit, an impression of your teeth is taken for retainer fabrication. The retainers will be ready in approximately 2-3 weeks, and you will collect them at your second visit.
What is the price to re-cement a fixed retainer?
The price for re-cementation of a fixed retainer ranges from $70 to $150 per unit. The dentist will need to assess the retainer to determine if it is in good enough condition to be re-cemented.
Is there a warranty for retainers?
We do not provide a warranty for retainers.
What are the different types of retainers you offer and what are their differences?
Clear (Essix) Retainers are removable, plastic, and virtually invisible. Hawley Retainers are removable, with a plastic shell and a wire. Fixed Retainers are non-removable, made of a thin wire glued to the back of your teeth, and are not noticeable.

How much do retainers cost?
We offer 5 types of retainers per arch (excludes GST): Clear Essix Retainers - $200, Clear Essix (High Impact) Retainers - $300, Hawley Retainers - $350, Fixed Retainers - $600, and Vivera Retainers (Set of 1 or 3) - $600/$1200.
How much does it cost to remove fixed retainers?
The removal of fixed retainers for both the upper and lower arches costs $300.
How long does a clear retainer last?
The durability of the retainer depends on your lifestyle habits and how you care for it, so we cannot advise on its exact lifespan.
How long-lasting is a clear retainer?

How long will it take to fabricate my retainers?
Essix retainers can be fabricated in as little as 3 days. Other retainers may take 1 to 2 weeks. An express service is also available for a reasonable surcharge - this is imposed by the laboratory that fabricates the retainers, not by us. Lead times depend on the labortory's workload and are best advised during your appointment.
How long do I need to wear a retainer?
The duration of retainer wear varies depending on individual factors and the recommendation of your orthodontist. Typically, full-time retainer wear is required for the first few months, followed by nighttime wear for an extended period, often several years.
Can I eat and drink with a retainer?

How soon after the mould is taken can i pick up my retainers?
After taking impressions, your retainers will typically be ready in 5 to 7 working days. Vivera retainers may take longer as they are shipped internationally.
What is the difference between a Normal Essix and a High Impact Essix retainer?

Normal Essix retainers are thinner, while High Impact Essix retainers are thicker and more suitable for patients who tend to grind their teeth at night.
